I am grateful for this opportunity to serve Glen Mar United Methodist Church as your interim pastor. You have been well led over the course of your history and I am honored to step in for a season to partner with you in what God is doing in and through this amazing church.
My spouse Carol and I have enjoyed living in Howard County for 23 years now. We raised our two sons here (Dunloggin Middle and Centennial High School) and have seen quite a bit of change in that time. Our son Jordan is 34, is married to Rachel and has a daughter, Rhen (our granddaughter!) who is 5 and began kindergarten on Wednesday. Jordan is a professor at Wheaton College in Massachusetts. Our son Andrew who just turned 30, lives in Los Angeles and is in the film industry.
Carol has been working as an occupational therapist for over 30 years, and is part of the rehab team at Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville. Carol has a heart for mission - helping with projects including: angel tree, refugee resettlement, Board of Child Care, meal and shelter ministries in Baltimore, emergency food pantry, Christmas shop and backpack ministries.
After growing up and going to college in Pennsylvania, I served for 2 years as a US-2, short-term missionary in Camden, New Jersey in the late 70’s. I graduated from Wesley Seminary in Washington, D.C. in 1982, and have been serving in the Baltimore - Washington Conference ever since. I was blessed to pastor four churches and also serve on Conference staff for a time during my 35 years of ordained ministry. Each of the churches completed major building projects and I have been closely involved with three major capital funds campaigns.
Preaching and worship, leading and coaching are my particular ministry interests. I am focused on making disciples of Jesus Christ and on helping people discern God’s calling in their lives. I enjoy facilitating groups, teams and committees toward deeper learning and faithful action. I believe in the transforming power of the Gospel and desire for people to experience God in their everyday lives.
Grace and peace,
Rod's passion is to invite individuals, groups, teams and congregations into wholeness and purpose in God. His primary areas of service are as an ordained clergy in the United Methodist Church and as a certified professional coach.
