Glen Mar Leadership Board
The Leadership Board's role is to provide leadership for Glen Mar Church by ensuring the church fulfills the vision, mission, and ministry of the local congregation. This is in support of the vision of The United Methodist Church's mission "to make disciples for the transformation of the world." The Board provides guidance, support, and accountability to ministry leaders and staff for the sake of the mission and vision of the church. Effective January 2017, the Leadership Board replaces the former Leadership Team as well as the Church Council. Read about the Single Board Model here.
One of the primary areas of focus for the Leadership Board is to ensure that Glen Mar continues to pursue our 2017 Goals and Objectives, as agreed upon in 2017. In this transitional year, we will be looking closely at our strategic direction as we anticipate the arrival of a new Lead Pastor in July of 2018.

Highlights from Recent Meetings
July 21, 2018
- The topic for this special summer Ministry Connection meeting was the proposals for our denomination's response to LGBT questions related to ordination and marriage. Rev. Tom Berlin, a United Methodist pastor from Northern Virginia and a member of the denomination's 32-member Commission on The Way Forward, which has been meeting to discern potential responses, spoke about his experience and understanding at the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church on June 1. At the Glen Mar's July Ministry Connection meeting, Rev. Berlin's presentation was shown. Our plans to address this issue at Glen Mar were discussed.
