Glen Mar has several outreach ministries which directly benefit Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, Howard County's only homeless shelter. These ministries include the Cold Weather Shelter, the Grassroots Donations Ministry, Meals for Grassroots Ministry, the Day Resource Center Ministry, and the annual Glen Mar Golf Classic and Silent Auction.
Grassroots is also one of the beneficiaries of Glen Mar's Wish Upon A Star Ministry, an annual program that provides Christmas gifts and donations of gift certificates for clothing, shoes and food to needy families in our area. In addition, Glen Mar supports Grassroots' programs through direct monetary contributions.

Grassroots Meals (Meatloaf Dinner)
Glen Mar provides dinner on the 4th Tuesday of each month to the residents staying at Grassroots' homeless shelter, located at 6700 Freetown Road in Columbia, MD, 21044.
Glen Mar provides the dinner entree (meatloaf) and milk for all residents, currently 55-60 people. We typically split the task among four volunteers, with each volunteer dropping off two prepared meatloaves and 1 gallon of milk. Occasionally, a group or scout troop will pick a date and provide everything needed as a service project. This is a great service project for Confirmands and their Friend in Faith or parents, or for families.
Drop off is any time that day prior to 5 p.m. (3 p.m. if the meatloaves need to be re-heated). Total commitment time each month is about 3 hours, including shopping, preparing the meatloaves and dropping the food and milk off. Volunteers can sign up for one time, every month, or anything in between.
