DESCRIPTION:Friday, May 31, 7:00 – 8:00 pm\nWhether playing Renaissance, jazz, or contemporary chamber music, the Monumental Brass Quintet is known for injecting energy and spirit into its performances. Critics have hailed this quintet as an “amazingly diverse ensemble that performs with exceptional emotional intensity.” This group has released three albums and toured the United States numerous times.\nThe Monumental Brass Quintet offers an annual week-long Summer Brass Institute and started a brass program at the Levine School of Music in the Washington, D.C. area to promote excellence in the next generation of musicians.\nTrumpet player Patrick Whitehead was a founding member of the quintet in the 1970s.
