Pastor Mandy Sayers and her family were members at Glen Mar in the early 2000’s, when Mandy was an attorney with the Legal Aid Bureau. She experienced a call to ordained ministry at Glen Mar, and graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary in 2010. She served as an associate pastor at The Journey of Faith Church in Waldorf, MD and as the lead pastor at Covenant UMC in Montgomery Village, MD before being sent back to Glen Mar as our Lead Pastor. She has a passion for preaching and worship, and for helping God’s people make a difference in our community. She takes seriously Methodist founder John Wesley’s thought that “The world is (our) parish.”
She’s an avid writer who writes a regular column in the Baltimore Washington Conference United Methodist newspaper. She’s also a contributor to the Women’s Common English Bible. She has taught classes in preaching to local pastors, laity and seminary students.
When she’s not working, you might find Mandy listening to early Motown songs, reading poetry or a good novel, watching baseball, eating barbecue, hanging out with her husband and two teen kids, or trying to get motivated to go to spin class.
