February 26 – March 4, 2024

In a heartfelt collaboration with Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, local faith congregations, including Glen Mar, rally each year to provide food and support for those in need in Howard County. This year, Glen Mar’s sponsored week for the Cold Weather Shelter (CWS) is set to run from February 26 to March 4. Similar to the past couple of years, Grassroots is housing guests at a local hotel. This year the shelter is hosting approximately 30 individuals that need our support.

Glen Mar invites you to volunteer your time and cooking talents. Several volunteer tasks are available:

  • Purchase bulk food items, beverages, and supplies for breakfasts and lunches.
  • Prepare individually wrapped sandwiches for lunches.
  • Prepare individually packaged dinner meals (containers provided).
  • Deliver meals and food items from Glen Mar to the hotel.
  • Volunteer at the hotel to deliver meals to guests’ rooms each evening.
    • Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult when volunteering at the hotel.

Sign up is now open!

Your contribution, whether big or small, plays a pivotal role in creating a compassionate and supportive environment for those seeking shelter during the cold weather.

Financial contributions are appreciated for guests’ laundry expenses, to purchase meal containers, and miscellaneous expenses during the week.

  • You may write a check to Glen Mar Church and write CWS in the memo line.

If you have any questions, please email us.
