Howard County’s Cold Weather Shelter will house guests in a hotel during December and early January, and they are asking local churches to help supply meals. Each day they will need 40 dinners, plus 40 bagged breakfasts and lunches for the next day. Dinners, as well as bagged breakfasts and lunches can be delivered to the Extended Stay Columbia 100 Parkway between 5:30 and 6 pm.
You can help by signing up to supply a set of meals (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) for one of the days. This is a great service opportunity for small groups or a couple of families. Meals are needed for the weeks of December 4-11, December 18-26, and January 2-8.

The Cold Weather Shelter is a partnership between Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center and the Howard County faith community to provide overflow shelter space for families in need. Glen Mar will host the Cold Weather Shelter February 26 – March 4, 2024. The organizers are hoping to be able to house the residents at the Route 1 Day Resource Center at that time, and your help will be needed to provide meals and other support. Save the date, and look for details in the new year.
