Position Posting: Facilities Manager
Glen Mar United Methodist Church is currently seeking an energetic Facilities Manager, to plan, assign, assist and supervise the work of staff, lay volunteers, and outside vendors. The Facilities Manager will perform varying types of tasks that require an array of skill levels, including work maintenance, security, and repair of Glen Mar United Methodist Church facilities, systems, equipment, and grounds. The successful candidate will be a very effective communicator, both in person and in writing, proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365 and be enthusiastic and team-oriented, able to work cooperatively and effectively in a team setting that includes volunteers.
Reporting to the Minister for Operations, the Facilities Manager will plan, schedule, assign, and supervise custodial care and use of a large multi-use facility, inspect and monitor maintenance to the proper codes using software, systems, and files, supervise facilities staff and vendors and participate in preventative maintenance of the facility, including all mechanical, electrical, technical equipment and systems both inside the facility and throughout the building grounds.
The Facilities Manager will make recommendations with regard to renewing service contracts, inspect the building, systems, and equipment noting need for repair, service and/or replacement and inspect the grounds for appearance, cleanliness, and safety, noting needs and providing recommendations for improvements. He or she will also enforce building and grounds restrictions and safety regulations, train staff and volunteers in proper work procedures and maintain proper tools, maintenance, and janitorial supplies. The Facilities Manager will monitor staff and volunteer schedules to assure maximum efficiency for facility users and maintain records of facility use, preparing quarterly reports for the Minister for Operations.
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma, with an associate’s degree preferred, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience. This candidate will also be an effective communicator, both in person and in writing and be very familiar with facilities information systems (i.e. building security, HVAC, Lighting, Card Access, etc). Knowledge of state and county facilities management regulations is also required. The successful candidate will also be able to lift 50 pounds safely, respond to the church facility in Ellicott City quickly in the event of an alarm at the facility and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license.
