Habitat is not using volunteer teams at the moment, but is considering that possibility for fall 2020. Please contact for more information and updates.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need.

The Glen Mar team works with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake in Baltimore. Adrienne Taylor coordinates our volunteers and Don Wecker directs our labor on work days.

Glen Mar volunteers work on the 2nd Saturday of each month, with some exceptions (see Current Happenings for specific dates). Generally we meet in the first parking lot at Glen Mar Church at around 8:00 a.m. and work until about 3:00 p.m.  Start time/meeting time at Glen Mar varies depending on the site where we are placed, and is announced right before the workday. Volunteers bring their own water and a lunch, and may bring their own tools if desired. See the Welcome Note for details.

We need helpers, carpenters, painters, and masons. Most of our volunteers gain their experience working on their own homes. If you have an interest while lacking experience or skill, please sign up and see if God has given you talents in any of these areas. Men, women and older youth (16 and above) are welcome to join our mission.

Construction not your gift? Check out Habitat ReStore

Habitat Chesapeake has several "ReStore" locations in the area, including one in Sandtown located at 1300 North Fulton Ave., Baltimore, MD 21217 and one in Columbia at 8909 McGaw Court in Columbia, MD 21045. The ReStores keep construction materials, household goods, and furniture out of the landfill when people donate them to the Restore instead. You can buy some really great items at steep discounts. Funds raised at the ReStores help build homes in our area for qualifying home buyers. Volunteers are needed at all area stores. Visit the Columbia Restore website or the Sandtown Restore website for more information, or view the brochure.
