Glen Mar has several members participating in the MS Ride on the Eastern Shore of Maryland this year. This ride raises money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Maryland/DC through donations made to the cyclists.

MS is a chronic progressive disease in which the body’s immune system attacks the protective covering of the nerve cells in the brain, optic nerve and spinal cord. Phyllis Cook has been a participant in the MS Ride for 16 years and a team captain for 8 years. Mary Maxey has been a team member for 8 years as well, and Joe Dougherty has been a team member since 2019.

This year we welcome new team members David Ward, Al Hannagan, Denise Hannagan, Margaret Lang, and Joanne Miliner. Our team name is “MS Riders on the Storm.”

The ride will take place on the weekend of June 17-18 and we ride through the countryside around Easton, MD. Everyone rides the route of their choice; either 35, 69 or 100 miles on Saturday and 31 or 50 miles on Sunday. Every rider must raise at least $300 in donations in order to participate in the ride. If you would like to donate to someone on our team, please contact them directly and they will send you a link to their donation page on the Chesapeake Challenge MS Ride website.  If you would like to join our team, please contact Phyllis Cook.
