Dear Glen Mar friends,
I'm enjoying our daily morning prayer online so much...If you want to join us, the Zoom info is below. Today's scripture was from Romans 12 (The Message):
12 1 So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life - your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life - and place it before God as an offering.
I'm starting a new sermon series this week called "Ordinary Miracles" - we'll be looking at ways Jesus tends to show up in the midst of "ordinary" people and places. So it felt like a God-moment to be led to this part of Romans.
What would it mean for us to take everyday, ordinary life (eating, zooming, working, stay-at-homing, dealing with relationships at close quarters) and place it before God as an offering? It would change the way I think about laundry, or shopping, or preparing my millionth "sandwich for lunch." If Jesus is in our midst, breathing peace, and giving us purpose, then everything we do has an element of the sacred. Washing dishes or changing diapers as an offering to God? Absolutely.
I'm grateful for all the "ordinary miracles" that are happening every day through Glen Mar Church, and I'm praying fervently for you and for the people you love. If I can serve you in any way, call the church and I'll get back to you!
See you online,
