Dear Glen Mar friends,
I’m so very grateful to God for all who helped make our Holy Week so special here at Glen Mar Church! From the palm branches on Palm Sunday through to the Alleluias of Easter morning, it was all such a blessing to so many people. Because of you, folks experienced the Risen Christ! I’m so proud to be your lead pastor and so humbled to be in ministry with all of you!
There’s a hymn called “Easter People, Raise Your Voices” that I particularly enjoy. I like the part where it says “Every day to us is Easter, with its resurrection song… when in trouble move the faster, to our God who rights the wrong… Alleluia, Alleluia, see the power of heavenly throngs!”
One of you dropped off a Washington Post article about Easter where the author quoted a preacher who said, “We live in a Good Friday world, but we are Easter people.” And in this season of Easter, we are especially aware of the fact that we live our lives looking at everything through the lens of the Resurrection of Jesus. I hope you’ll join us for worship, where we will unlock the keys of Resurrection life as Easter people.
For those of you who missed the in person announcement, we are proud to welcome D. C. Veale (back) to Glen Mar as our Minister for Youth and Mission! I hope you’ll say hello and help him get to know you, if you haven’t already. D.C. brings a heart for mission and youth and years of experience, and I know both he and we are in for a blessing in our ministry together. His official “first day” is April 8, but I am sure you will see him at the Youth Spaghetti Supper on April 7 as well!
Also I wanted to share that we will celebrate the life of Steve Lokitis this Saturday in the Chapel. Family will receive visitors at 10:00 with the service at 11:00 am. I hope you can join us as we share about the goodness of God and the foundation of faith that informed Steve’s life on earth and goes on now in heaven.
See you in church,
Pastor Mandy
