SHP was a driving force behind the first MLK Service Day bed-build back in 2019, and we remain a faithful supporter as SHP built another 20 beds this past MLK Day. We remain true to our mission statement that “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town.” So far, we have lifted over 500 children from the indignity of sleeping on the floor to knowing that someone out there loves them enough to give them a hand.

GM has a strong set of regulars at each build, including a core group of men and women some of whom have made GM present at every build in the past five years.  Howard County Executive Calvin Ball visited our last build at our new permanent Red Branch site, as he did our first build, in sub-freezing temperatures on a farm in Elkridge. He celebrated and thanked SHP for its service and strong support here in Howard County. And our work continued with a sponsored build on April 21 and will continue with a private build by our Glen Mar youth on May 26.

Thanks for all those who donated at the spaghetti dinner to help fund that event. Donations of bedding (mostly bedspreads/comforters remaining) are still welcome.  Thanks for your continued support.
