Wish Upon A Star is an important Glen Mar ministry that helps make Christmas brighter for children and their families. This year, we’ll be providing gifts mostly to Howard County families in need, as well as Baltimore City families. Glen Mar partners with non-profits such as Howard County Public Schools who recommend families for whom we provide gifts and gift cards.

Gift Sign-Ups begin on Sunday, November 6th and continue through November 27th. There are 2 ways to sign up to support this ministry:

  1. Choose one or more paper stars in the Gathering Place for gifts and/or gift cards that you would like to purchase. You then buy the gifts or gift cards and return them to the Spirit Center on any Sunday morning – no later than Sunday, December 4th.
  2. Choose one or more gifts from the comfort of your home by using our Sign-Up Genius which will also be available beginning November 6th. Follow the same process for dropping off your gifts at Glen Mar in the Spirit Center on any Sunday morning through Sunday, December 4th.

In lieu of signing up for specific gifts, cash donations are welcomed as well. These donations are used to purchase gifts that no one signs up for. Starting last year, we also used a portion of the cash donations to help families in Hurley, VA who were deeply thankful for Glen Mar’s assistance.

Local non-profits that we are partnering with this year include:

  • HopeWorks of Howard County
  • Eva Johnson Foundation
  • Board of Child Care
  • Ames Church
  • Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center
  • Judy Center
  • Howard County Public Schools

Please reach out to the Wish Upon A Star Team with any questions or stop by our table in the Gathering Place on any Sunday beginning November 6th.
