Unshakable Hope
September 12, 2021
Short-Term Fall Bible Study
What is your life built on — the circumstances of life or the promises of God? The answer to that question changes everything. Maybe you feel hurt by the past, disappointed by the present, or worried about the future. If so, there is hope. For every problem in life, God has given you a promise.
Join with us for a short-term Bible study this fall as we take a closer look at Scripture’s unbreakable promises and learn how to live with unshakable hope using Max Lucado’s “Unshakable Hope: Building Our Lives on the Promises of God”. This study will guide us through 12 of the Bible’s most significant promises and offer encouraging guidance for overcoming sadness and despair, renewing a sense of purpose, and triumphantly facing the fears of the future.
New small groups will be formed for this small group Bible study, which will begin the week of September 12, 2021. This is a 12-session study – we will study the first 6 sessions in the fall and the remaining 6 weeks in spring 2022.
Whether it’s heart disease or cancer, job failure or addiction, natural disasters or family disasters, mass murders or mental illness, there are so many reasons to be overwhelmed and hope can feel hard to come by. Now more than ever, we need the definitive declarations of our mighty and loving God. We hope you will join us!

FAQs
What is a Growth Group?
Growth Groups are small groups that meet to study the Bible in community with others. Targeted studies, such as the upcoming “Unshakable Hope” study, allow many people to focus on the same study, without a long-term commitment. We also have groups that meet for small group Bible study on an on-going basis.
What is the Study?
In Unshakable Hope, Max Lucado unpacks 12 of the Bible's most significant promises and offers encouraging guidance for overcoming sadness and despair, renewing a sense of purpose, and triumphantly facing the fears of the future. In this book, you will be reminded that God’s promises are irrevocable because:
• God is unchanging
• God is faithful
• God is strong
• God cannot lie
How long is the Unshakable Hope Bible Study?
It is a twelve (12) week study, that will be broken up into two 6-week studies. The first 6-week session will be held this Fall between the weeks of September 12 and October 17, 2021. The second 6-week session will be held in Spring 2022. You are encouraged to complete both sessions of the study, although it is not mandatory.
What is the format for the Unshakable Hope Bible Study?
Each meeting lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours. There will be a video session of 15-20 minutes, and then discussion on the video and information in the study guide. There will also be time to discuss joys and concerns of the group. Each meeting will attempt to balance conversational teaching from Max Lucado in the video with engaging discussion among the participants.
Who will be included in my Growth Group?
The size of the group may vary, but the likely size will be less than 10 people. A facilitator will be part of the group to guide the discussions.
Where will the meetings be held?
Meetings will be held either at Glen Mar or on Zoom. Details on the location the group will meet will be included as part of the sign-up.
Are we required to do homework? If so, how much?
Minimal at home effort is required – just completing the weekly assignment in the study guide.
Am I going to have to talk or can I just sit and listen during meetings?
Participation and sharing one’s thoughts are encouraged, but not required.
What is the cost of the Study material?
The cost of the study guide is approx. $9.50, or $6 as an eBook.
How much do I have to know about the Bible?
No prior familiarity with the Bible is necessary. Completing the weekly information in the Study Guide will prepare you for the group discussion.
How long is this group going to last?
The groups for Covenant will be established for the 6-week Fall study period. You will have the option to continue with study in the Spring 2022 for the final 6-weeks of the study, although it is not mandatory.
Where can I buy the study materials, and which ones do I need?
