Glen Mar has a variety of ministries to families with infants through children in 5th grade. New families are always welcome. Sign up for our weekly e-newsletter, The Family Vine, to have the latest information sent directly to your inbox. We encourage families with older children to check out our Youth section. Check the Upcoming Events or read the Blog to learn more about children’s events and happenings.
CHILDREN’S REGISTRATION
To keep everyone informed and involved, we ask that you please fill out this easy to use online registration for your children.
SPROUTS (PRESCHOOL THROUGH KINDERGARTEN)
Our in-person children’s programs on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 11:00 am are designed for older 3’s through kindergarten.
We also offer nursery care for children as young as 5 weeks old during Sunday worship services. Space is limited. For the most up-to-date nursery information, search the Blog or email our Childcare Coordinator.
KIDS (GRADES 1 – 5)
Our elementary program on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am is called “Pathfinders.” Kids in 1st – 5th grade dig into the Bible through fun interactive activities and discussion.
CHILDREN’S MUSIC
Glen Mar’s music ministry offers a vibrant children’s music program that runs from September through mid-May, with enrollment open year-round.
There are always opportunities for adult volunteers with a passion for helping children make joyful noises – Safe Sanctuaries training is required (see below).
For more information on children’s music programs, email Sophie Hong, Music Director.
Serve in Children’s Ministry
Our prayer at Glen Mar is that every child will grow to be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and continue to live out their faith long after they graduate from high school. Intergenerational relationships are key to helping our children develop a long-lasting faith.
There are many opportunities to be a part of Glen Mar’s ministries to families with children, from leadership and instruction to “behind the scenes” roles. No experience is required to serve, but to ensure strict safety guidelines are understood and followed, all volunteers working with youth must take our Safe Sanctuaries training, which requires a background check.
Are you interested in serving? Contact Julie Metakes, Minister for Children & Families.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
For more than 20 years, Glen Mar has been blessed to host hundreds of children during fun and faithful Vacation Bible School (VBS) sessions. We even conducted our first virtual VBS in the summer of 2020 due to the coronavirus causing us to close our building. Each year’s VBS follows a fun and exciting theme that is typically announced after the first of the year, with on-line registration starting on March 1. Check out Upcoming Events or visit the Blog for the most recent news about Vacation Bible School.
INTERESTED IN BAPTISM?
Baptism is an important ritual in the Christian faith, symbolic of being reborn in Christ. Anyone who has not been baptized is encouraged to take this important step, regardless of age. Many parents choose to have their children baptized as babies or young children – symbolic of their dedication to raise their children to walk with Jesus until they are old enough to confirm their faith.
Baptism classes for parents of children are scheduled as needed. A pastor will meet with you personally to guide you through the process and solidify a date for baptism before the congregation. For more information, contact the Pastor’s Assistant. To make a baptism request, please fill out a Baptism Form.
