Mardi Gras Pancake Supper

Tuesday, February 21

Prepare for the start of Lent by eating pancakes with your Glen Mar family. The tradition of having pancakes the night before Ash Wednesday (1st day of Lent) started many, MANY years ago. Families often gave up some type of food for Lent like: fish, milk, sugar, or eggs. In an effort not to waste food (no one had refrigerators at that time) they had a big feast and made pancakes with the extra food. Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday.”

Glen Mar’s Pancake Supper will be in person this year, and proceeds (free will donation) will benefit Grassroots. In celebration of Mardi Gras, wear a funny hat!
