Sermon Series – Under Wraps: The Gift We Never Expected
Sundays, November 30 – December 24
“For unto us a child is born…” What does it mean that God is expectant? In our humanity, we love to give or receive the perfect gift. Little did humanity know that in Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, we were going to receive the perfect gift. The thing is, the people of God expected the messiah to be other things: a military leader, an earthly king, something impressive! But in reality, he was born a baby, from a young woman from Nazareth! Can anything good come from Nazareth? Well, God expected it to be yes…even if we sometimes can’t see the good from our “Nazareth,” God does. How about you? What are you expecting this Advent? This Christmas? Do you still expect things? Or, are you just ready for it all to be over so you can get back to business as usual? What would you expect this year if you let your heart dream a little?
