Glen Mar’s Angels for a Cure team is very grateful to people who supported its Outback Steakhouse dinner fundraiser on October 9, 2024. The purchase of 96 dinners translated into $1,121 raised for the American Cancer Society. An additional $120 was donated.
The scrumptious dinner consisted of sirloin steak, chicken, macaroni and cheese, Caesar salad, and bread. Purchasers had the choice of dining in the Spirit Center or taking their meals out. In-house diners were provided beverages. Dinners, costing $25 each, were ordered prior to the event.
Outback Steakhouse employees Heather Ronning, Janet Sev, and Krystal Ngo brought the meals and served them. Dinners were kept warm over chafing dishes. Previously, Angels for a Cure teamed up with Outback Steakhouse to conduct this fundraiser in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023. Covid interfered with holding it in 2020 and 2021.
Angels for a Cure is a Relay For Life of Baltimore and Howard County team. Relays are volunteer-led experiences that celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Each year, more than 5,000 Relay For Life events take place in at least 20 countries.
Glen Mar’s team started in the mid-1990s and has been going strong ever since. Current members are Jeff Adams, Connie Ballenger (captain), David Costello, Diane Costello, Lois Hildebrand, Mary McKay, Cindy Nicodemus, Jeanne Odermatt, and Joy Piersall.
