UMCOR – All of our hearts have been torn this past week as we see and hear about the devastating flooding in Texas. As part of the connectional system in the United Methodist Church, Glen Mar is encouraging our members to donate to UMCOR to help with recovery efforts. The Glen Mar ELC is hiring assistant teachers! Join in making a difference in the lives of young learners! Teaching Assistants are needed from 9:00 am-6:00 pm, and must be at least 16 years of age. Please email your resume to Shelby.

We Love Collegians! We are restarting our You’ve Got Mail ministry to send care packages to Glen Mar collegians and we need your help. We are asking for the school addresses of all college students, as well as volunteers to help create and mail care packages. We will also accept donations to help pay for items and mailing. Please contact Trisha Boswell to provide addresses, donations or to volunteer.

“Love your neighbor,” says Jesus – Neighbors who are experiencing loss and significant stressful life events are in special need of love. Consider whether God is calling you to become a Stephen Minister, a person specially trained in Christian Caregiving. Our next training class begins this September and finishes in late February. Back To School – The new school year will be here before you know it. In preparation, we’re starting to collect backpacks for students served by Glen Mar’s partner church, Ames United Methodist Church in Baltimore, as well as students here in Howard County. The need is always greatest for high school age students. Please be on the lookout for this type of backpack or consider a financial donation if that is more convenient. If you would like to help with this mission, or have questions, please contact Pat Lee.

Grassroots Meals Ministry – Tuesday, July 22. Looking for a way to serve those in need in Howard County? Sign up today to purchase and take 2 meatloaves or 5 gallons of milk to the Grassroots Emergency Shelter. Meatloaves and milk can be dropped off at Glen Mar on the Sunday before the delivery date. Our Next Turn @ Rt. 1 DRC – July 26, 11:45 am – 2:00 pm. One of 50 churches supporting the Grassroots Rt. 1 Day Resource Center (DRC), Glen Mar provides lunch on the 4th Saturday of every month. Baltimore Mission Week – All youth and adult participants in our Baltimore week should meet in the chapel at Glen Mar tomorrow morning at 8:00 am. Bring a bag lunch and a water bottle. We will eat dinner at the church and be ready for pick up at 6:15 pm.

Youth Group – There are no youth activities this week because of the Baltimore Mission Week.
