At Glen Mar, rise – TOGETHER AS ONE is more than a stewardship campaign — it’s a two-year journey of faith, generosity, and shared purpose that will carry our mission of praising God, growing disciples, and serving the world through June 2028. Rooted in Ephesians 3:16–19 and grounded in the belief that God can do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,” rise unites our giving around one vision and one fund.
But campaigns are ultimately about people — and the stories behind why we give, why we belong, and what we hope for are what make this community truly remarkable. Each week, we’ll be sharing the voices of Glen Mar members, couples, and families who have experienced the transforming power of this church firsthand, and we invite you to be inspired, moved, and perhaps even see a little of your own story reflected in theirs.
INCREDIBLY BLESSED
“When our family moved back to Maryland we were looking for the perfect church family for us…Our daughter attended Vacation Bible School in the summer of 2024 and we felt like we had stumbled upon some place special.
It’s always been extremely important to us that our church be welcoming to all people, family oriented, and with plenty of opportunities for service. We feel so incredibly blessed and like God was truly at work when He brought us to Glen Mar, which offered all of that and more. This spring we had our twins baptized and we officially joined Glen Mar – we are so proud to be part of a church community that loves God, grows disciples, and serves the world.” —Taylor & Justin Dietrich
WORKING WITH “FAMILY”
After transferring from another small Methodist Church, Don Wecker became a member of Glen Mar in 2007. As part of his joining process, he chose to participate in Habitat for Humanity, excited by the vision of building homes for others.
His very first day on the job, however, was a “reality check.” Don and the Glen Mar crew arrived in Sandtown, an under-resourced Baltimore neighborhood, at a 100-year-old brick row house with missing interior floors. Their task was to shovel mud and debris from the basement into buckets. This initial, unglamorous work was far from the glossy advertisements, but the blessings began immediately. That day, Don met fellow Glen Mar member Adrienne Zendt-Taylor and the homeowner, Zelda, who worked humbly by their sides. Zelda’s quiet remark that the effort meant “it will only mean more to me with all the work” profoundly impressed Don.

“Nineteen years later, Adrienne and I are co-leaders and have worked with dozens of homeowners who are investing their sweat equity into building their homes and working side by side with our incredibly talented and committed crew of women and men who have truly become family. Every build has its challenges, but also has the blessing of working with ‘family’ and with wonderful homeowners to create safe and beautiful homes that change their lives generationally.” — Don Wecker
GROWING UP AT GLEN MAR
“I‘ve been attending Glen Mar since first grade, growing up through the youth group, choir, and summer mission trips. While life is busier as an adult, I remain connected through the Snack Pack small group and mission trips.”
—Kelly Doss
Glen Mar has profoundly shaped Kelly’s faith and provided a valued community. Kelly loves being involved in the summer mission trips – more than 25 – now as an adult driver. She continues to grow in faith and truly values the relationships she’s made at Glen Mar as well as the church’s focus on serving others, both locally and abroad.
FINDING HER PLACE IN THE TECH MINISTRY
Wendy Feaga began coming to Glen Mar in December 2023 — specifically to join the Tech Team and to continue learning ProPresenter, the software used for live streaming and projecting slides during services. She has been part of church media projection teams since 2001, first learning PowerPoint, then MediaShout, and now ProPresenter.
The tech team warmly welcomed her, and after initially working on slides for both the traditional and contemporary services for a year, she moved entirely to the contemporary service. A valued member of the praise band team, she attends practices on Sunday mornings to ensure slides are projected at the right time and making minor updates as needed. Wendy also learned, under the careful instruction of Pat Lee, how to set up cameras and is now learning video direction for the contemporary service’s two-camera setup.
“Glen Mar has many small groups. I am part of Alphabet Soup, a group embracing our LGBTQ siblings, and recently the Social Justice Group. I have also retaken Disciple One as well as participated in some short-term Bible studies and participated in Journey to Bethlehem. I have enjoyed Glen Mar’s welcoming community, and appreciate their allowing me to serve. ” — Wendy Feaga
