Glen Mar’s Social Justice Group is made up of folks who are interested in learning about and challenging themselves with social justice issues. The group follows the biblical and United Methodist Social Principle …”to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” (Mic. 6:8, NRSV)
With those goals in mind, the group:
- hosts group book studies, events, watch parties, and more
- shares ideas and resources on social justice topics
- exchanges information about upcoming social justice actions, both locally and in the wider UMC
- connects with and actively supports local social justice ministries
In the interest of broadening awareness of social justice issues, the Social Justice Group publishes a monthly Social Justice Newsletter with information about upcoming opportunities to stand up against injustice. Email the Social Justice Group to get on the list.
The group also maintains a Social Justice Library, located in the Lower Gathering Place by the Missions display. Anyone can borrow these books, which provide insight into a variety of social issues. Each book has been read and recommended, and new books are added regularly.

Beyond the Bridge – Sunday, October 4, 5:30-830 pm, in the Glen Mar Chapel, we’ll be hosting a movie screening and discussion on homelessness.
