Glen Mar hosts monthly luncheons at the Day Resource Center and we need you!

The Day Resource Center serves the unhoused and vulnerable individuals in Howard County located mostly along the Route 1 Corridor. The center provides meals, showers, laundry services, clothing, internet access, phone, mailing address, basic living supplies, conversation and referrals to social services. A full meal is provided on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The day resource center is operated by the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center. The current facility opened in 2017 and has living quarters on the second floor.

Glen Mar has committed to serving a warm and nutritious lunch to the guests of the Day Resource Center on the 4th Saturday of each month. Through a Sign Up Genius link, members and other volunteers contribute food and drinks to feed 60-80 people. On-site volunteers serve the lunch, do the dishes, serve as laundry and shower monitors and help staff the pantry. John Fritz and Jo Ann Kohler rotate serving as the on-site coordinator the day of the lunch.

Our goal is to never run out of food and at times, we have food leftover since there is no real prediction of attendance on any given day. The DRC staff is sometimes able to save the leftovers and use it for meals on another day, however when that is not possible, leftover food is
delivered to the Grassroots Crisis Center or the local fire station.
