During the week of May 31 to June 7 Glen Mar hosted a 24/7 prayer room in the chapel. We had well over 120 hours of prayer that week in the chapel where people encountered the presence of God during hour-long prayer slots. The focus for the prayer room was connected to the rise-TOGETHER AS ONE campaign and what God has in store for our church going forward.

The prayer room welcomed individuals and families into time set aside with God by providing guided prayers and activities, as well as just providing a quiet space. Some of the activities were tactile like prayer stones and a sand garden, or a chance to pray through art with coloring pages and a wall to decorate. There were also ways to connect with other participants by leaving prayer requests on a net so other participants could pray over each other’s requests.

The week-long 24/7 prayer room was a new experience for Glen Mar, and it was well received. One participant remarked, “The room created a sacred space where we could bring our joys, concerns, and hopes before the Lord without distraction. It was encouraging to know that people were joining together in continuous prayer, lifting one another up in faith.”

Taking time from busy lives can be hard, but people found the time meaningful and special. Another participant shared, “The prayer room was a very worthwhile and unique experience. I pray regularly at home or on the go, but for some reason this felt like a ‘here I am Lord’ moment; specifically driving to church for an individual ‘appointment with God.’ ”

Keep an eye out for future opportunities to participate in a 24/7 prayer room here at Glen Mar.
