Habitat for Humanity Team Resumes Work

Opportunities to Serve
Habitat, Habitat for Humanity
Come build dreams with the Habitat team!

On July 10th, Glen Mar’s Habitat for Humanity team resumed work with a full crew! We work on the second Saturdays of every month, meeting at Glen Mar in the morning to carpool to Baltimore where we work with Habitat for Humanity Chesapeake. All skill levels are welcome and those age 16 and up are welcome to join. Preregistration is required. See below for details!

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need.

The Glen Mar team works with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake in Baltimore. Adrienne Taylor coordinates our volunteers and Don Wecker directs our labor on work days.

WHEN:
Glen Mar volunteers work on the 2nd Saturday of each month, with some exceptions.

WHERE:
Generally we meet in the first parking lot at Glen Mar Church at around 8 a.m. and return to Glen Mar around 4:00 pm, depending on our location that month.

WHO:
Men, women and older youth (16 and above) are welcome to join our mission. Volunteers must be 18 or older to use power tools. All skill levels are welcome. Additional information is included in the Welcome Note that Adrienne sends out to volunteers.

Note: There is a new sign-up process as of May 2021.

Signing up for Habitat work days is now a two-step process. Please do step one in advance, so that when you want to volunteer, you are already registered.

STEP ONE

  • Watch the safety video.
  • Register with the Glen Mar user group. You will need to complete liability release and info form from Chesapeake Habitat there. You will be asked if you have watched the safety video. Then you will get an email confirming your registration as part of the group.

STEP TWO

  • After you are registered, you will be able to view work day opportunities on the Habitat web site, and sign up.

If you are bringing a youth that is 16 or 17 years old, there is a special form that must be signed and then sent to Habitat. Contact Adrienne for that form if you need it.

Questions? Contact Adrienne via email.
