Dear Glen Mar friends,
We are counting our blessings this day at the Sayers family table and YOU are one of the blessings for our church and for us! Thank you for being in ministry with us at Glen Mar and thank you for all you are doing, every day, to bless others through our church and otherwise! God has been so good to Glen Mar and to us and we are all grateful this day. If the only prayer we ever prayed was “thank you, God” that would be enough and more than enough.
This weekend, I hope you’ll join us for worship, in person if you are in town, or on the live-stream if you are away, for worship, as we conclude our “Come to the Table” series. We’ll learn about the Parable of the Great Banquet and the size of the Banquet God has in mind as we continue to give thanks.
We’ll also all pitch in to get ready Journey to Bethlehem setup on Sunday. We’ll start at 12:30 until we are done, and many hands make for light work, so come and we’ll give you a task or two. And it’s a great day to pick up your costume too! (9-12 pm). Feel free to come casual for worship and ready to help for as short or as long a time as you want!
Glen Mar’s Cold Weather Shelter week is in February, but Grassroots is asking for groups, families or individuals to sign up to cover a few extra weeks in December and January. The details are all here — if your small group or friend group or family are looking for a service opportunity, this would be a great way to put Thanksgiving into action — and give early birthday presents to Jesus, the Christmas Birthday Boy. Each link is for one of the 3 weeks.
Finally, after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the world celebrates “Giving Tuesday,” the chance to support those non-profits that mean something to you. I support Glen Mar Church every year on Giving Tuesday, and share a link on my Facebook and other social media, so that people can support this cause that transforms lives, and changes the world in Jesus’ name. I ask for people to donate what they would have spent on my Christmas gift, because the best gift I know is to help Glen Mar accomplish its mission of Praising God, Growing Disciples and Serving the World.
