Dear Glen Mar friends,
Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I am getting so excited about two of my favorite things – turkey and Giving Tuesday!
Turkey because it makes the house smell like “home and family” and Giving Tuesday because it is a global movement to encourage people to do good!
Turkey, (and also football) and doing good? That’s my kind of holiday!
But seriously, what started as a simple idea in 2012 has now become a cultural phenomenon of record-breaking giving each year, and Glen Mar is participating so you can be in on the fun!
I’ve used Giving Tuesday as a way for my friends to donate to my church as a Christmas present for me…and we will have ways for you to share this “Giving Tuesday” opportunity on social media or with your friends as well. You and I know what a blessing Glen Mar is to so many, members, visitors and community members alike. The gift to Glen Mar truly keeps on giving—in making disciples of Jesus that make a difference in the world, in food and clothing for the poor, in comfort for those who are grieving, in sharing the life-giving hope that Jesus brings.
This Giving Tuesday – November 29, 2022, you’ll have a chance to give to Glen Mar to help us show and share the love of Jesus and ask friends to give as a way to bless you (and so many others) on Giving Tuesday.
And if you’d like to give early, you can do that here.
Watch your email box and Glen Mar’s Facebook page for reminders as we get closer to the big day!
In the meantime, blessings to you and your family for a warm and peaceful Thanksgiving. I give thanks to God for you every day.
See you in Church for the First Sunday of Advent! If you can, we’d love your help after worship in getting the place ready for Journey to Bethlehem! Dress for the weather, come worship and then pitch in to make light work for all!
PS We are looking forward to welcoming people “home for Christmas” this season. Can you help create a warm, welcoming church home by joining one (or a few) of our Welcome Teams? (Please notice the tabs at the top of the signup, including Christmas Eve Services.)
