Greetings Glen Mar,
I hope you all are doing well and enjoying this beautiful autumn weather. Fall is my favorite season of the year, and looking around Glen Mar’s campus at all the gorgeous fall foliage, it is a sight to behold! On bright and sunny days, like this past Monday, gazing upon the beauty around us, I cannot help but be grateful for all of God’s good creation. God is indeed good because, as I have heard it said recently, that is God’s nature.
Another beautiful thing happening soon at Glen Mar is the Jewels for Hope event on Saturday, November 1 from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. Jewels for Hope launched nine years ago after one of our members, Libby Boswell, who has since gone on to be with the Lord, came up with the idea to have an event where gently used scarves and jewelry could be sold to raise money to support Hope Works of Howard County’s mission to provide support and advocacy for those who have experienced intimate partner violence. The purchase of every scarf or piece of jewelry still goes directly to this mission, and that is a thing of beauty!
I pray that you will share this upcoming event with others to let them know about what is coming up at Glen Mar. Please consider attending and purchasing some items for your significant other, those on your Christmas list, or even for yourself. It is not often that we can know we are doing something good through our purchases, but you will be doing just that if you purchase from Jewels for Hope on Saturday, November 1.
So, remember to look around this autumn and take in the beauty of creation. At the same time, do not forget to recognize the beauty that can come from one person’s idea and the support of those who continue to make their vision come to life to help others. It truly is beautiful.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Chris
