Pastor’s Ponderings – Happy Father’s Day

Pastor's Ponderings

Dear Glen Mar friends,

Summer is here and Father’s Day is Sunday! Come be with your heavenly Father in worship, who loves and cares for you! We’re starting a new series called “Come Back to Me: Love Letters from the Minor Prophets.” The Minor Prophets (so called because they are shorter, not “less important”) have a message we need to hear today, about the sovereignty of God and the difference being a worshiper of the God of Abraham, the God of Jacob, the Father of Jesus Christ, makes in our lives. You may never have heard a sermon on them before, so come hear what the Lord has to say. This week we’ll hear from Malachi about what it means to long for God’s presence, and how God wants to “refine” us, taking away the dross and impurities and leaving valuable, beloved treasure behind. (Title of the sermon is “Flea Market Flip”).

We’ll pray for dads and lift up all the joys and complications of fatherhood, and be reminded that, no matter whether you are a dad or not, and no matter whether your relationship with your dad is great or not, or whether your dad is on earth or in heaven, we have a Heavenly Father who loves and cares for us and who says, “Come on home.”

One way to spread the “Faith of our Fathers” is to share with us your estimate of giving (aka pledge) for the coming year. We are about halfway to our goal and we need your help and support. Click here to make your commitment today, so that our kids and grandkids can continue to praise God, grow disciples and serve the world!

See you in Church,

Pastor Mandy Sayers
