Pastor’s Ponderings – I’m So Glad You are Here

Pastor's Ponderings

Dear Glen Mar friends,

This week, I got a call from a gentleman who lives near our church who is recovering from a stroke. He is also the main caregiver for his wife, who is in hospice care at home. He emailed to ask if we might have someone to come sit with his wife for an hour at a time, so that he could go to doctor’s appointments. He offered to “pay a youth” to do this. I reached out to our Caring Ministry Coordinator and within a day, we had a person or two from Caring Ministry who would be happy to serve our neighbor in this way (for free, because of who Jesus is and who we are). He called back to thank us, and explain he’s been a Methodist all his life…and that he was beginning to lose hope, and then, he found Glen Mar. He said, in effect, “I’m so glad you are here.”

Last week, we got a note from a person who lives in another state, along with a check for her offering, thanking us for our online worship, which is helping her through a hard season of life. She wrote at the end, “I’m so glad you are here.”

This is what “blessed to be a blessing” looks like, and I’m so glad for your support of our mission and ministries. We couldn’t do any of it without your help!

Join us Today (Thursday) for our Outdoor Summer Market from 3-6:30 (A dozen vendors, come say hello!)…

And join us in worship this weekend as we learn about a prophet named Habbakuk and what it means for Christians to “watch and wait” for God to move. We’ll commission our summer mission trip teams and sing and pray and worship God together!

See you in Church,

Pastor Mandy Sayers
