Pastor’s Ponderings – New Pastor for Congregational Care

Pastor's Ponderings

Dear Glen Mar friends,

What a great picnic we had on Sunday! So grateful for all who made it happen (especially George the Chef!). I hope you’ll join us on Sunday, for Father’s Day, as we explore a new series called “Faces of our Faith”—a deep dive into lessons learned from some of our lesser-known Biblical forefathers and foremothers! We’re starting this week with Noah and the Flood. We’ll have baptisms, new members AND commission our Mission Team as they prepare to leave soon for Plymouth, NC. Come and worship our good and faithful God!

Also, as we bid Pastor Melaina farewell, I wanted to ask us to also pray for our new associate pastor, Rev. Dr. Gayle Annis-Forder, who will be joining us mid-August as our Pastor for Congregational Care. Pastor Gayle has recently retired from “full time” ministry, but is excited to continue to use her gifts in ministry at Glen Mar as a part-time staff member. She brings 40 years of experience in ordained ministry, including most recently 13 years as the Lead Pastor at Linden Linthicum UMC.

Gayle has a BA in Musical Education and Vocal Performance from Western Maryland College, an M.Div. from Drew Theological School, and a D.Min. from Wesley Theological Seminary. She’s a trained Stephen Ministry Leader, a vocational coach, and a graduate of the Financial Leadership Academy. You are going to love her—and she is going to love you! : ) Her gifts, her experience, and her passion for ministry will bless our church, and I know we will be a blessing to her as well.

She enjoys reading, the outdoors, music, theatre, and spending time with Dick, her husband of 28 years, and her 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (who as she says, “Rule the house”).

We’ll welcome her later this summer, but in the meantime, please join me in praying for her and for her family, and for the Linden Linthicum folks who have wished her well as she joins us.

See you in church,

Mandy
Pastor Mandy Sayers

PS We got many “Estimate of Giving” cards… including some additional “Coffee for Capital” folks too! It’s not too late to let us know what God may be calling you to give!  Visit the 2024 Stewardship Campaign blog.
