Pastors Ponderings – Reshaped

Pastor's Ponderings

Dear Glen Mar friends,

Change is a hard thing, and something that we often resist. How often do we hear (at other churches, not Glen Mar), “But this is the way we have always done it!” or “We’ve never done it that way before!” Change comes as part of living, or in response to God’s call. Sometimes change comes from our own desires to have our own way, and we miss the mark God sets for us.  As seasons change, as we prepare for a new school year, as God continues to do “a new thing” in and through us, how are we to deal with change as people of faith? Join us in worship this weekend to answer these questions about faith in seasons of change.

Meet us at the Communion Table on Sunday as we start our August Family Worship Series, “Reshaped.” At the Communion table, we experience the presence of Christ in and through “common vessels” of bread and wine. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we can connect with the presence of God. In this holy mystery, we are “reshaped” by this meal from the inside out. May God “change” our hearts and hold us in his hands… #Godispotter #Weareclay.

This week, I hope you’ll join us for the last concert of our summer concert series on Friday August 4 at 7 pm, featuring Footworks, a percussive dance ensemble, at the church and for our Family Matters potluck for parents of young kids on August 5. Then on Sunday at 5 pm, we’re having a gathering of college-aged and 20 somethings offsite at a home in Ellicott City. If you are a college-aged person or a 20 something or a parent of same,  ping me and I’ll send you the address. (Food, fun, fellowship…).

Many thanks for all the food and backpacks and school supplies you have given for our Baltimore neighbors! Keep those donations coming this week!

See you in Church,

Pastor Mandy
