Dear Glen Mar friends,
As the seasons change, I’m feeling the Holy Spirit’s nudge to notice, to slow down, to be present in the moment and to feel God’s presence every day. October is a beautiful month, full of the turning of leaves and the smells of earth and grass, taking me back to my childhood. At church, each day, I find myself in conversation with people I love, reminding me that church is not about business or busy-ness but about relationships. It’s such a hectic time in the church’s year, as we do so much preparation for Christmas and do so much good in the world. Let us not forget that God calls us into relationship with God and with each other. Let us stop, look and listen deeply to one another, because that’s what “church” really is and is supposed to be—a community, a family, a body of Christ. What a holy privilege to get to talk with, and listen to, and pray with you. What a gift it is to be the church, together.
If you need a listening ear, someone to come alongside during a hard season of your life, we have folks at our church who are trained to listen well, and help affirm where God is at work, and really just be a Christian friend. They’re called Stephen Ministers and they are wonderful resources in time of need. If you’d like to learn more, email st*************@********mc.org.
Come to worship this weekend, take a moment to breathe, to hear from God, to give thanks and to be present. I think it’ll be a blessing to you as it will be to me!
See you in Church
Pastor Mandy
