This Just In

There’s always something happening at Glen Mar.

SPOTLIGHT MINISTRIES:
  • UMCOR – All of our hearts have been torn this past week as we see and hear about the devastating flooding in Texas. As part of the connectional system in the United Methodist Church, Glen Mar is encouraging our members to donate to UMCOR to help with recovery efforts. You can use the QR Code in the bulletin this Sunday or directly to Glen Mar with the note “UMCOR” on your donation. Visit UMCOR to donate.
  • Exciting Concert – Friday, July 18, 7:00 pm. The Marimba Linda Xelaju will delight audience members and provide folks a strong dose of Guatemalan culture at a concert in the Spirit Center. Concertgoers will get another bonus: seeing family members enjoy performing together (a family literally in concert). This is a free one-hour event.
ACT NOW:
  • The Messenger Article Submission – July 15. Would you like to share about your ministry? Is there an upcoming event you would like to advertise? Let us know! Submissions for The Messenger are due Tuesday, July 15. Email articles to The Messenger.
  • Summer Bell Choir – Experienced ringers (adults and youth) are invited to play at the 9:30 am worship service on July 27. Come to just one rehearsal on Monday, July 21, at 7:00 pm. RSVP to Tammy at Covenant Ringers.
  • Calling all singers! Sing at the 9:30 am worship service on July 27. Come to just one rehearsal with the No Strings Choir on Thursday, July 24 at 7:00 pm.
  • Family Music – August Family Worship is coming soon! Contact Sophie if your family would like to provide music for worship during August.
  • The Glen Mar ELC is hiring assistant teachers! Join in making a difference in the lives of young learners! Teaching Assistants are needed from 9:00 am-6:00 pm, and must be at least 16 years of age. Please email your resume to Shelby.
  • Good Trouble: Sign up for the Social Justice Mailing List to receive email notifications about local opportunities to stand up against injustice. Learn about protests, letter writing campaigns, vigils, educational gatherings, and more. Email Social Justice to join the list.
  • “Stephen Ministry training helps you become a better Christian!” says our very own Pastor Gayle. She is so awesome! Consider joining us in our next training class, beginning mid-September. For more information, please contact a pastor or email us at Stephen Ministry.
  • Back To School – The school year is coming to an end, but the new school year will be here before you know it. In preparation, we’re starting to collect backpacks for students served by Glen Mar’s partner church, Ames United Methodist Church in Baltimore, as well as students here in Howard County. The need is always greatest for high school age students. Please be on the lookout for this type of backpack or consider a financial donation if that is more convenient. If you would like to help with this mission, or have questions, please contact Pat Lee.
