Let’s Grow as ‘Easter People’

Through the month of April, we discovered that living as Easter people is not only for a day, week, month, or season but it is a life that recognizes that resurrection is possible every day. Despite our situations, circumstances, relationships, statuses, and/or financial situations, resurrection is possible through Jesus Christ. Scarcity mindset tempts us into believing that resurrection is impossible because we do not have enough resources or abilities to be resurrected. This scarcity mindset is often driven by a level of idolatry because scarcity mindset tricks us into believing that we are the source of our resurrection stories, we are the source of our resources and abilities, and if we cannot do it then it cannot be done. We are in control of our resources and abilities when all of it comes from God. Scarcity mindset is a hindrance to faith.

A way to overcome scarcity mindset is to grow in our discipleship so that our faith might increase.  When we grow in our discipleship, we know that if we say, “mountain be moved” then the mountain can be moved. When we grow in our discipleship, we know that there is no situation, circumstance, status, relationships, and/or financial situations that are beyond God’s resurrection. During our Stewardship Campaign, we will move towards growing as disciples through the sermon series, “Room to Grow.” The sermon series will begin on Sunday, May 5 and continue through Sunday, June 9. June 9 is Commitment Sunday – which will be celebrated with a picnic after our 11:00 am worship service.

As we explore growing in our discipleship throughout the month of May, we will see evidences of this growth in our young people through Recognition of our Graduating Seniors on May 12 and our Confirmation service on May 19. More information and details will be communicated prior to these dates. Additionally, if you have pictures of your graduating senior that you would like to be included in the in-service slideshow, please submit to D.C. Veale.

Through the sermon series, “Faces of Our Faith,” we will continue growing as disciples as we explore the ordinary people of faith in the Old Testament. We will look at how these ordinary people played a part in God’s redemptive story of grace and love. We will have models of what it looks like to live life as resurrected, Easter people who have grown in our faith and discipleship for the transformation of the world. This sermon series will begin on Sunday, June 16 and conclude on Sunday, July 28.

You will not want to miss out on these opportunities to grow as Easter people in our discipleship so that we can overcome scarcity mindset to be a part of God’s redemptive story of grace and love for the world.
