Dear Glen Mar friends,
At every funeral I am a part of, questions often come up about the legacy we leave behind. In the words of country singer Randy Travis, “It’s not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it’s what you leave behind you when you go…” (Three Wooden Crosses).
By God’s grace, we have all been adopted into God’s family… and I’m wondering what we would want said about us, and the legacy we will leave when we go to be with God? This Sunday we will honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, and learn about what a Christian’s legacy might look like. After all, we are named as children and even “heirs” in the family of God. What would we leave behind for others? What do we “inherit?” And how can we so order our lives so that we leave a legacy of love and faithfulness – and take hold of “life that really is life?” Join us on Sunday in worship!
Also, next week is the Baltimore Washington Annual Conference Meeting of area United Methodists. Please pray for your pastors and for those representatives attending on behalf of Glen Mar as we gather in “Holy Conferencing” to hear about our church’s witness and mission this year and to vote on the business of the larger church. We will ordain our own Alexandra Thomas on Friday afternoon! And, tune in to the O’s game on Wednesday night to see our Bishop, Latrelle Miller Easterling, throw out the first pitch!
Oh and please scroll down for a “Did you Know” fact about our Room to Grow campaign…
See you in church,
Mandy
