Dear Glen Mar Friends,
What an amazing month July has been! Thank you all again for welcoming our family to Glen Mar Church! It has been a joy to meet, greet, and get to know so many of you throughout July, but I am excited to say that we are only just beginning in our season of ministry together.
As we move towards Autumn, with school beginning and, hopefully, cooler weather, I am looking forward to all the different ways that we can serve the Lord together or get connected within Glen Mar. Our church has so much to offer us to get plugged into in this upcoming season. I think of Sunday School beginning again, and I wonder if you might be called to serve in the classroom alongside other Glen Martians, as they seek to teach the ways of the faith to the next generation. Or, how about the Youth Group? Have you ever felt the tug to get involved in helping our middle school and high school-aged youth grow in their relationship with Jesus? What about jumping in on a women’s or men’s study? We offer multiple of each. Have you wanted to grow in your faith? One of those groups, or one of the other Bible Studies or small groups we offer at Glen Mar, might tickle your fancy and help you draw closer to God. Have you ever considered singing in a choir or playing bells in the handbell choir? We have multiple options for you if you are musically inclined as well.
The point I am trying to make as we get started together in this season is this: since Glen Mar Church’s mission is “Praising God, Growing Disciples, and Serving the World,” there are no spectators here. Action is required to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, and the Kingdom of God is to be experienced and lived out. We have so many ways for you to do this here at Glen Mar.
Whether one of the above-mentioned opportunities is for you, or you are not quite sure yet, there is a place for you at Glen Mar. Whether you have been here since our inception in 1954, started attending after the new building was opened in 2008, or have only been around for a couple of weeks, you belong! As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12:27, “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” Wherever you feel led to get plugged in, whether in the church or in service through the church, or both, we are better off for you being here. I look forward to walking with you as we continue to get to know each other.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Chris Dembeck
