Pastor’s Ponderings – One Body

Pastor's Ponderings

Greetings Glen Mar,

I hope you are doing well and having a good week, though I know not everyone is able to do so with the ongoing Federal Government Shutdown. Many in our congregation have been affected and continue to be without an end in sight. During times like these, I often think of the line from Romans 12:15 where the Apostle Paul writes, “Rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.” We weep with you and look forward to rejoicing with you when this pause is over. May it be soon!

In the meantime, we cannot articulate enough that we stand beside you and with you as you navigate the unknowns and challenges that the current situation brings to you and your families. In light of this, on this coming Wednesday, October 15, from 6:00-7:30 pm, we will have a time of food, fellowship, and prayer for federal workers and their families. We want to invite you to come and share your hearts, thoughts, and feelings, and allow us to cover them in prayer together. We will have different folks here to support you that night, and of course, if there is anything we can do in the meantime, please let us know.

We must remember in times of great division and polarity that the Church is meant to be an alternative community of unity through the Holy Spirit, who unites us. As the Apostle Paul also wrote, we are to remember that we, the church, are one body, united in Christ Jesus, and so when one of us hurts, we all experience pain (1Cor.12:26). Please continue to keep one another in prayer as we entrust all of it to the Lord, knowing that God is with us.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Chris
