Volunteers have always been a part of our Journey to Bethlehem tradition at Glen Mar Church. Help with prep work or be part of the cast or crew. Questions? Contact us or visit us in the Gathering Place between services starting September 27.

Journey to Bethlehem is a FREE outdoor theatrical adventure for the whole family running December 4, 5, and 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. There will be live animals, shepherds, angels, magi, and scenes from a biblical marketplace. Friday and Saturday will be walking nights, and Sunday will be a driving night. Reservations will be required to attend Journey to Bethlehem.

Sign up to help with preparation work prior to and after the event, or sign up to be part of the cast and crew. Be sure to check out the details below for information about roles and commitments.

All cast and crew need a costume! Pick out and reserve your costume in November.

Angels – The angel choir will be made up of families serving together. This is a great opportunity for pre-school and elementary-aged children with a parent. Isaiah – Adult male with memorized lines.

Joseph – Adult male in several scenes. Couples can sign up for the creche and Simeon scenes.

Magi – Adults or older youth present gifts to baby Jesus.

Marketplace – Families, youth, and adults in an outdoor scene interacting with guests. Possible themes include cooking, sewing, juggling, and blacksmith.

Mary & Baby – Mothers with an infant child in the indoor Simeon scene or the outdoor creche scene.

Reader – Adults read the scene script to groups as they visit and help direct groups on the driving night.

Shepherd – Adults, youth, and families with older children care for and act alongside animals in several scenes. Due to popularity, this role is usually divided into shifts.
