By Julie Metakes, Minister for Children & Family
Hello Glen Mar Families! As I reflect back over the last 3 months, I am filled with joy after seeing God work in the Children’s Ministry here at Glen Mar. At the start of Lent, families had the opportunity to grab a “Pathfinders at Home” bag with activities to bring families together to have conversations about Lent and why we sacrifice during this season. In the bags were activity chains and a calendar with conversation starters for each day. Children also planted seeds as part of our sermon series “Grow with Us”. The seeds all sprouted and by Easter morning, we had a garden of seed-lings that they could take home and continue to watch grow into mature flowers!
I hope you had the chance to join us at the Easter Eggstravaganza on April 1st. After a 3 year hiatus, children return to make cupcakes, do crafts, meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for eggs.
Our Holy Week finished with a special children’s message on butterflies that helped children connect the transfor-mation of the caterpillar to that of Jesus in the tomb.
Looking ahead, Vacation Bible School will be held July 10-14 this year. We are taking children out of this world on a “Stellar” adventure through space to see how we can shine Jesus’ light for everyone to see. We still have spots available for children entering 1st-7th grade. We need volunteers to help make VBS a success! Consider joining us for part or all of the week.
