Dear Glen Mar friends,

We’re in for an amazing fall season at Glen Mar! Our summer was full of praising God, growing disciples (and growing as disciples) and serving the world, and we are just getting started!

August brings with it exciting new opportunities for family, youth, and kids as we have our Sunday Youth Group kickoff on  August 27. It’ll feature dinner every week (food), ways to grow in relationship to Jesus (faith), and lots of fun and friends too. The buzz is real, y’all. Come check it out!

August family worship will be amazing—with the theme “Reshaped” (complete with playdough, and great music, and uplifting preaching). August 27 will be Back-to-School Sunday as we pray for our kids and teachers and bless backpacks and lunchboxes and gradebooks for a great new academic year!!

Glen Mar’s “fall kickoff” of ministries is scheduled for September 10. Get ready for the start of fall Bible studies and small groups, including Disciple Bible Study and many other opportunities! We’ll have sermon series this fall about forgiveness, discipleship, and how to grow in our relationship with God. We’ll be working closely with neighborhood schools to bless and to serve them and continuing our service to our unhoused neighbors through ministries like Day Resource Center, Ames Memorial UMC in Baltimore, and Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

I also want to give thanks for your generosity and faithfulness with our Capital/Stewardship Campaign, “Mission Possible: Reaching the Goal.” I’m grateful – in a season where many churches are dealing with downward trends – that at Glen Mar folks increased their estimates of giving by 10 percent to the Operating Fund and 14 percent to Capital. We’ve lost some givers to passing away or moving away, so we really need folks to continue their giving over this three-year campaign, and I’m confident that will happen, because I know of your heart for Christ and for the work we do here at Glen Mar. It is a joy and a privilege to serve with you at Glen Mar. Your faithfulness to Christ through our church changes lives every day.
