Seventh Annual Jewels for Hope

Opportunities to Serve
The Messenger 2023-08-01

By Libby Boswell

“Jewels for Hope” was set up to support HopeWorks in its mission – 100% of the  proceeds go to HopeWorks. HopeWorks of Howard County is the only agency that provides support and advocacy for those who have experienced partner violence. This agency’s mission is extensive.

HopeWorks provides a 24-hour hotline and offers,

  • a confidential emergency shelter
  • help for human trafficking victims
  • counseling for victims, children, and abusers
  • legal advocacy and representation
  • outreach and community education
  • and accompaniment to the hospital

HopeWorks continues to respond to over 2,000 emergency/hotline calls a year, and the number of people who are housed in HopeWorks’ shelters has increased from 55 to 69.

How Can You Help?

Here are some ways you can help.

  • Donate your slightly-worn jewelry and scarves starting August 28 and ending  by the deadline of October  15 (Drop-off containers are located in the Gathering Place, at HopeWorks, and at the Columbia Yoga Center)
  • Consider making a monetary donation
  • Attend the sale on November 4
  • Please spread the word to your family, friends, and neighbors as there is always plenty of jewelry and scarves to choose from.

Jewelry and scarves make perfect holiday and birthday gifts. Any questions, please contact the Hopeworks Team.
