Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 8:30 am – 2:00 pm
“Jewels for Hope” was set up to support HopeWorks of Howard County in its mission to provide support and advocacy for those who have experienced partner violence and their mission is extensive.
HopeWorks provides a 24-hour helpline and offers
- a confidential emergency shelter
- help for human trafficking victims
- counseling for victims and their families
- legal advocacy and representation
- outreach and community education
- accompaniment to the hospital
- pet safe program
HopeWorks continues to respond to approximately 2,000 emergency/hotline calls a year, and the number of people who are housed in HopeWorks’ shelters is around 70.
The logo for “Jewels for Hope” has been updated! The reason for this change is to honor Libby Boswell as the founder of the event. Her name now appears on the logo to remind us of this woman’s dedication to helping and serving others. Sadly we lost Libby in 2023.
The concept for this event came from Libby Boswell’s earnest desire to provide support for an organization in our community. To this end, Libby gathered a group of four women together and, over lunch, the idea for selling gently used jewelry and scarves at Glen Mar in support of Hope Works materialized and was named “Jewels for Hope.” A quick trip to a nearby jewelry store gave rise to a plan to organize the items to be sold.
This treasure of an idea Libby gave us will continue along with our thoughts and memories of a special woman!
