Dear Glen Mar,
This weekend we will conclude our Summer Family Worship Series, “The Journey,” and I’ll be preaching on “Oh the Places You’ll Go.” I hope you’ll join us in person (masked) or online, to receive a blessing. We’ll be praying especially for our students returning to school next week (so have backpacks at the ready, at home or in worship, with your students, so that we can bless and encourage them). Teachers, Administrators, we’ll be praying for you too!
One of the most meaningful and fun things we do at Glen Mar is our amazing Confirmation process for youth 8th grade and older. This is an adventure of faith more than just a “class”—where our youth get to learn more about our faith, engage in special service projects, and grow in their on faith. It will culminate in a Confirmation Service on Pentecost where our youth will “confirm” the promises made, often on their behalf, at their baptisms, and claim the name of “Christian” for themselves.
Our first informational meeting is this Sunday at 11 am in person at the church. If you would like more information, contact Jen Rowell.
As we get ready for football season, (Go Ravens!) we are also having our own fall kickoff on Sept. 12 (register here if you would like to have a George Dohner cookout burger/lunch https://tinyurl.com/KickOffLunch2021 so we can put your name “in the pot” as my mama would say). The kickoff is for everyone to attend, with special info from our generational ministry staff (Margaret Lang—children and families; Jen Rowell—middle school youth; Sean Danaher—high school youth), opportunities to sign up for a small group or Bible study and find out about fall offerings, information about music ministries, mission opportunities, and other fun activities.
Also, we want to update our church info/directory and we need YOUR info. Here’s a quick and easy google form we’re asking folks to fill out to make sure we are as current as possible. We’ll share about how you can access the new info once we get it collected.
