When I joined Glen Mar back in October, God called me to step up and support Pastor Mandy with the Prayer Chain as keeping a document updated can be an arduous task, and she is a busy pastor of a large church! Part of my career was as a documentation specialist, so this job comes as second nature to me.

Managing the list has enabled me to get to know my Glen Mar family. This is the first church to which I have belonged without my late husband, and I am forever grateful for your love and the community. I am used to leading programs where the recruitment of volunteers is boisterous – VBS! We need you! Children’s Church! Say yes!

When I started supporting the Prayer Ministry at Glen Mar, I didn’t realize at first that I needed to dial it back a notch (or 10). I asked a friend if she was on the Prayer Chain. When she shook her head, I enthusiastically (and loudly) exclaimed “You should be!” She smiled at me as she walked away, but her face said, “Who are you, and what did you do with Addy?” Yikes!

The Prayer Chain list is a confidential PDF file that Pastor Mandy distributes weekly with the needs of Glen Mar for its members to lift to God.

Belonging is a calling, and you should only join if you and God decide together that this is for you.

My experience on the Prayer Team can be summed up by the lyrics of a song by Wayne Watson, When God’s People Pray.”
