Dear Glen Mar friends,
This week has been amazing as we have welcomed over a hundred kids to Glen Mar to “Stellar: Shine Jesus’ Light!” Vacation Bible School (VBS).
One of the kids told their mom after the first day, “I know EVERYTHING there is to know about Jesus now!” So many people came up to me to share that their children and grandchildren loved EVERYTHING about VBS this year and already want to sign up for next year!
None of this would be possible without the help of so many and especially the loving leadership of Julie Metakes, our Minister for Children and Families! Her Lead Team put so much love, work and care into making this the Best VBS Ever! We had Crew Leaders of every age, and leaders of stations, and helpers for set-up and take-down and crafts and games and all the stations that gave of their time and talents each day. From the Tech Team to the Snack Team to folks who provided breakfast for the workers… I’m grateful. A special shout-out too to Brian Tucker, our awesome Facilities Manager, and his team, who kept us safe and made everything run smoothly (including keeping bathrooms clean, always a key part of ministry!).
Thank you to all!
This Sunday, we’ll welcome new members at 9:30 am and share some of the VBS experience with a song or two! If you were part of VBS, wear your VBS shirts (I will be washing mine first, don’t worry). I’ll be preaching on Hosea with an homage to Tina with the sermon “What’s Love Got to Do, Got to Do with It?”
Also, I’ll be sharing about some great young adult opportunities here at Glen Mar! We are starting a group for 21-25 year olds (Name to be determined later) who will meet on Sunday, August 6 5:00 pm offsite. If you want to know the location, contact Pastor Heerak or me! For the “older” young adults—closer to thirty, early thirties—we have “Snack Pack” who meets every Tuesday at 7 pm at the church. They are watching and discussing the TV Show, “The Good Place.”
There’s so much to be grateful for at Glen Mar and so many ways we Shine Jesus’ Light!
See you in Church,
Pastor Mandy Sayers
