Dear Glen Mar friends,
As votes are being counted in some important races around the country, and as Veteran’s Day approaches, I give thanks for the ways that the Church models the servant leadership of Christ, in public and private ways. My prayer, as a citizen of a country that looks divided at times, is that we can model unity in diversity. My prayer is that our faith and the love that Jesus calls us to, informs all the ways we serve, in the government, in the church, in homes and schools.
Worship this weekend will help us center ourselves in Christ, as we read from Galatians, and if you are “stuck,” I think worship this weekend will move you in ways that will bless you! You won’t want to miss it!
This past Saturday, servants at Glen Mar welcomed over 200 people to our Spirit Center to raise money and awareness for HopeWorks. I’m so grateful to be able to share that we raised $20,000 for that wonderful cause. And we shared cards that had our Advent and Worship information with all who came, so that we could welcome anyone “home” for Christmas at Glen Mar this year who might be in need of a place to belong, a place to know Jesus, a place to be loved and welcomed.
We also put up our outdoor buildings for Journey to Bethlehem! The link to come as guests is operational…and there’s a facebook event on our church page that you can share on your own social media! What a great way to share the gift of Christmas, the gift of Jesus with friends. We are still in need of folks for a couple roles and teams. And, we have some items we are asking folks to donate: 14 gauge or greater extension cords, 2 gallon or bigger jugs, wooden bowls… please see the SignUp. If you bring it to Glen Mar, you can put it on the table under the tent in the Gathering Place.
This Saturday, we’re having a mini-Health Fair where we are offering flu shots, COVID boosters, health checks and more! Register on our website “attend”, and if you want to greet (and hand out some of the Christmas postcards, email the Health Fair Team.
See you in Church,
PS Just a short note to remind you that our Advent Sermon Series (The Journey) has an accompanying study of the same name, by Adam Hamilton. You can find more information about this at on our “The Journey Study 2022” Blog page. Please pass this information along to anyone interested in joining in. We are currently accepting signups for this study that is designed to enrich the experience of Advent this year!
