Dear Glen Mar friends,
School is starting again, and I’m very excited for all our students (and teachers) will learn and experience this year! I hope you’ll join us as we conclude our series, Drawn In: Living the Creative Life with God, with “Rest.” We’ll be blessing students and teachers also, so don’t forget to bring your backpacks, water bottles, lunchboxes, gradebooks, etc. and/or just yourselves for a time of prayer and blessing (at both services!). And don’t forget the info session on Confirmation (for rising 8th graders and up) between services, and the youth group kickoff on Sunday evening at 5 pm!! More info? Contact DC Veale.
Pastor Gayle has started her work with us, and we are in the process of nailing down her specific days and times in the office, so stay tuned for that. Her email follows the staff format for all Glen Mar staff, using her full name (gayle.annis-forder), and her extension is 215. I hope you’ll reach out to say hello on Sunday mornings or during the week!
I leave you with a favorite hymn of mine for this time of year…
Praise the source of faith and learning which has sparked and stoked the mind with a passion for discerning how the world has been designed. Let the sense of wonder flowing from the wonders we survey keep our faith forever growing and renew our need to pray.
May our faith redeem the blunder of believing that our thought has displaced the grounds for wonder which the ancient prophets taught. May our learning curb the error which unthinking faith can breed, lest we justify some terror with an antiquated creed.
As two currents in a river fight each other’s undertow, ‘til converging they deliver one coherent steady flow, blend, O God, our faith and learning, ‘til they carve a single course, ‘til they join as one, returning praise and thanks to you, their Source.
See you in church,
Pastor Mandy
