Dear Glen Mar friends,
Wow! What amazing worship we had yesterday for Palm/Passion Sunday! I’m so grateful for all the love and care that went into it and for the contribution of so many to make it happen! I’m excited for all that this week will bring and I hope you’ll join us for all of it.
In all the excitement, I forgot to ask us to take a moment to invite the person God has led our hearts to reach out to for Easter. So, on this Monday of Holy Week, I invite us to do it today!
If you choose texting, which may be easiest, here are some sample texts to inspire you!
#1: Hi! I was in church yesterday, and realized Easter is this Sunday. If you don't have plans, I would love for you to come sit with me at Glen Mar! Are you free April 9? #2. Hey! I was up at church yesterday and they just announced all they’re doing on Easter Sunday, next weekend. Sounds like it’s going to be amazing. Does your family have plans this Easter? #3 Hey! At church yesterday they talked about what we’re doing for Easter. Does your family already have Easter plans? #4 Easter Sunday is next week! Do you guys have plans? I’d love for you to come to church and lunch with us if you don’t. #5 Easter is this Sunday! You want to come to church with me?
There’s also email, facebook, phone and face to face….
We’re doing this because we believe that Glen Mar is a place where folks encounter a risen savior every Sunday. And if our church has blessed you, wouldn’t it be great to share that blessing with friends?
Even if they say, “Heck no!” you are still planting a seed…Research has shown it generally takes several “touches” or invitations before a person says yes. God’s grace works in mysterious ways and your reaching out could be just the thing they need to take that step toward healing, acceptance, and peace and joy that can be found in a growing relationship with Jesus….
If in prayer, God has spoken to your heart, will you join me today in reaching out? I’ll be inviting my friend Melissa.
Services this week, including Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and of course Easter Sunday, can be found here. If your friend is musical, the cantata would be another easy invitation. Thursday, Friday, and our usual Sunday service will be live-streamed.
Thanks for your patience with a pastor who has a LOT of wonderful elements to highlight in worship all the time.
See you in church this week,
Pastor Mandy
