Dear Glen Mar friends,
I wanted to lift up our AWESOME middle school retreat, and all the leaders who made it possible (Pastor Heerak, Tom, Amy, Chad, Sal, Doreen)! I had a blast hanging out with these great youth and teaching them about having faith like Peter (cue roller coaster video). If you or your youth are considering a visit to check out our Sunday night youth group, you should!! Here’s why: (Written largely by the Amazing Amy Barnes) A chance to praise God, grow as a disciple and serve the world with food, fun, fellowship, and most importantly, FAITH.
- Fellowship/Friendships help us grow in our relationship with God and each other. Jesus team of disciples (and the early church) were friends who cared for one another. If we are to grow, we need to be connected to Jesus (the Vine) and support one another (the Branches)
- Fun: Life Size Battleship and Hungry Hippos, community scavenger hunts with candy for winning teams, escape rooms to help Peter escape from prison
- Food: No dishes, and no hungry kids afterwards. $5 is such a bargain!
- Faith: Learn what faith looks like—replacing worry with trust in God, serving our community with service projects like assembling hygiene kits for UMCOR, shopping for Wish Upon a Star families, and more
- It takes a disciple to make a disciple—and we want to be there for YOU and your amazing YOUTH.
So, now that you know WHY you should send your youth to Youth Group, How do you get your Youth-Group resistant youth to go to Youth Group? You put them in the car and drive them to Glen Mar! We have a big, fun, vibrant group! I bet you if you bring them, they’ll want to come again!
And just a reminder –
- Journey to Bethlehem – Please sign up for your role in Journey to Bethlehem! And if you haven’t ever participated, this is YOUR year!
- Jewels for Hope – We need buyers! Come on out for some great bargains at this HUGE sale. Saturday, November 4 is the day! From 8:30 – 2:00 pm at the church!
See you in Church on Sunday—Come to the Table!
Pastor Mandy
PS I’d like to quote (with her permission) the amazing Emmalyn, who said, “When you become a Christian, you do NOT instantly become a glowing ball of light! It’s all about the ups and downs, and Jesus is with us the whole way!” #discipleship#youth#yallcome!
